The registration deadline for this event is 6 January 2017. The location in East or West Africa is to be determined.
ALFA 2017 creates a platform for multi-actor learning exchange on climate change adaptation knowledge, practice and capacity building in Africa. It aims to strengthen linkages and commitment towards realizing high quality adaptation programmes and actions, supported by capacity building opportunities, and resulting in long term climate resilience among Africa’s vulnerable populations.
ALFA 2017 objectives are to support continuous adaptation learning in Africa, towards:
- Adaptation knowledge into action: drawing from successful adaptation initiatives, knowledge and evidence, and analysis of drivers and barriers.
- An African cadre of experts: exchange on adaptation learning, capacity building and training opportunities in Africa, their current and future potential for sustainability and up-scaling
- An enabling environment: exploring ideas for improved coordination, continuous learning, knowledge brokering and exchange relating to adaptation decisions, capacity building and action.
Are you working on adaptation in Africa? Would you wish to contribute to these objectives? ALFA 2017 will bring together up to 70 participants drawn from learning, training and research institutes; decision makers in adaptation finance and National Adaptation Plans; finance readiness programmes, adaptation practitioners, think tanks and knowledge brokers in francophone and anglophone Africa. Fund managers, policy makers, evaluators and others interested to learn about what makes successful adaptation are welcome to register.
