Columbia University is hosting this conference from 19-21 June 2019 in New York City, titled, At What Point Managed Retreat? Resilience Building in the Coastal Zone. Abstracts are due February 1, 2019.
The conference, hosted by the Earth Institute's Climate Adaptation Initiative, will address a range of issues facing coastal communities in the United States and around the world. This conference will bring thought leaders from academia and the public and private sectors together to advance the science and policy dialogue on coastal retreat.
The conference is intended to be of interest to academics, planners, practitioners, and industry representatives from sectors such as real estate and insurance. Abstracts are welcome from researchers and those involved in policy, planning, or corporate foresight activities. While the primary focus is expected to be on coastal issues, there may be sessions focused on additional hazards facing diverse regions, such as drought/fire, heat stress, and inland flooding.
