Opportunity for Communities to Engage with Thriving Earth Exchange

AGU's Thriving Earth Exchange helps scientists and communities form collaborative, impactful partnerships. Community science projects launched through Thriving Earth Exchange use science to advance community priorities and are part of a growing movement toward engaged, community-driven science.

    Start a Project

Communities and community groups of all kinds are invited to partner with AGU's Thriving Earth Exchange to design and launch a project that unites community and science to advance community priorities.

Getting started is simple, and the first step is to apply online. Share your priority with us, and we will help you develop a project. There is no cost to communities to participate other than your time. Expressions of interest are accepted and developed on a rolling basis until November 1 for our next launch. (Communities who contact us early receive priority for the upcoming project launch.)

What it Means to Start a Thriving Earth Exchange Project

Thriving Earth Exchange projects inform and tackle priority areas relating to natural resources, natural hazards, climate change, sustainability and health.

    Communities who start projects receive:

    • Project management and coordination from a dedicated Community Science Fellow trained by Thriving Earth Exchange.
    • Partnership with a volunteer scientist vetted by the Community Science Fellow
    • Access and connection to the growing network of Thriving Earth Exchange communities, volunteers and partners
