Future Earth and our partners have some exciting announcements today for our upcoming conference "Seedbeds of Transformation: The Role of Science with Society and the SDGs in Africa." We're now accepting proposals for sessions and will be offering travel support to the conference for innovators based in Africa.

This event will run from 9 to 11 May 2018 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. It will provide a collaborative space for people from diverse perspectives to explore transformations and the Sustainable Development Goals in Africa.

First, check out our website for the conference to learn more about its goals and themes. Please feel free to share our save the date (attached), too.

We also hope that you'll join our online community for this event, right here on the Open Network.

Next, think about submitting a session proposal. We're looking for sessions that explore diverse African priorities and actions. And because the conference is designed around the concept of a "marketplace," we're looking for creative sessions that rely on dialogue and engagement much more than on conventional presentation formats. The deadline to send in your proposal is 5 February.

Read the full announcement and find out how you can apply here.

Last, we're offering travel support to a limited number of innovators based in Africa to participate in the conference. Leaders in research organisations, government, the private sector, NGOs, media and the broader civil society are invited to apply. Come share your ideas with us! The deadline for applications is 5 February.
